TODAY, Oct. 14, is the birthday of National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes. Considered the mother of Philippine modern dance, she is a choreographer, dancer, artistic director and dance educator. She popularized modern dance in the country and led the development and promotion of a distinctly Filipino style. She was conferred the title of National Artist in 2014.
