LIST: Presidential, VP, senatorial aspirants on day 1 of COC filing

During the first day of filing of certificate of candidacy for elective posts in next year’s elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has recorded 22 persons who filed their COC for president, three for vice president and 16 for senator.

Former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority chief Augusto Syjuco Jr. was the first person who filed his COC for president.

For vice president, United Nationalist Alliance VP bet Gringo Honasan was the first person to file his COC.

Meanwhile, Panfilo Lacson was the first candidate who filed his COC for senator. He was rumored to be a member of the Liberal Party slate but in his COC, he left his organization or party blank.

At a press briefing, Comelec chair Andres Bautista emphasized that if a person files his COC, it does not mean that he is already an official candidate.

The official list of candidates will be released by December 10.

Aspirants can file their COCs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until October 16.
