Binay camp says VP will continue ‘pro-poor programs’ amid ratings drop

Vice President Jejomar Binay will “continue to fight for his pro-poor programs” despite a drop in his public satisfaction ratings, his camp said on Tuesday.
“In the latest SWS survey, 58% of respondents are satisfied with the work of Vice President Binay. The results of the different surveys strengthen the resolve of the Vice President to continue to fight for his pro-poor programs that he has started in Makati,” lawyer Rico Quicho, spokesman for political affairs of Binay, said in a statement.
Quicho said the majority of the public was still satisfied with Binay.
According to the Social Weather Station (SWS), Binay suffered a nine-point drop in September compared to his rating last June.
The results showed that Binay had a “good” net satisfaction rating of +33 (58 percent satisfied against 25 percent dissatisfied) in the third quarter of 2015, a nine-point decrease from his +42 rating last June.
But despite this, Quicho said Binay would continue with his trips to the provinces to meet with the public.
“The Vice President will continue with his provincial trips to directly talk with and listen to the people, and offer them a decisive, effective and inclusive governance,” he said.
Binay is the standard-bearer of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) who has selected Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan to become the running mate of the vice president.
