Typhoon ‘Jenny’ moves away from PH

Typhoon “Jenny” continued to move outside the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday, said the state weather bureau.

In its latest bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Jenny was spotted 860 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes.

It has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph and is forecast to move northwest at 13 kph.

According to Pagasa, the typhoon is expected to leave the country on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, in an advisory issued 5:23 p.m., the bureau said parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces were experiencing thunderstorm.

The thunderstorm is affecting Marikina, parts of Quezon City, and the nearby provinces of Rizal, Laguna, and Batangas.

The bureau said rains and lightning may persist for two hours over the affected areas.

It advised the public to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning, and possible flash floods. Nestor Corrales/RC
