‘Jenny’ intensifies into severe tropical storm

“JENNY” (Dujuan) intensified into a severe tropical storm on Thursday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 120 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

“Jenny” maintained its speed of 7 kph west northwest and was last located 1,180 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.

It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday.

The storm will enhance the southwest monsoon in the Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, CARAGA, Davao Region and Zamboanga Peninsula.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
