All systems go for Youth Run slated on Dec. 4

AROUND 4,500 runners are expected to answer the starting gun for the Youth Run…Make A Stand Fun Run on Dec. 4 at the Plaza Independencia.

The running event aims to raise funds for the Cebu’s hosting of the 27th World Local Youth Day on April 30 and 31, 2011 at the Basak campus of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

The other objective is to unite the youth organizations in Cebu for the upcoming major event next year.

The running event will have 3-kilometer, 5-k and 10-k categories with a P300 registration fee.

The technical side of the race will be handled by Priscillano Capangpangan.

Organizers are confident they can draw 4,500 runners because our Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has endorsed this event to all of youth organizations in Cebu.

Winners will take home cash prizes. Registration can be done at the Cebu City Sports center and all of the district I parishes.  CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
