History confab set Oct. 20-22
To mark its 70th founding anniversary, the Philippine National Historical Society (PNHS) will hold its 32nd national conference on Oct. 20-22.
The conference will be held at Holy Angel University (HAU) in Angeles City, Pampanga, and is cosponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ Committee on Historical Research, HAU’s Juan D. Nepomuceno Center for Kapampangan Studies, Philippine Social Science Council, and National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
The theme of the conference is “Celebrating 70 Years of the PNHS: Looking Back and Looking Forward: Historical Antecedents and Future Prospects in National and Local History.”
The oldest historical society in the country, PNHS has blazed the trail of historical research on the Philippines. Its conferences and publications have presented researches on mainstream national history, on local/regional histories that have enriched understanding of the cultural diversity in Philippine society, and on studies in related social sciences and the humanities.
