Aquino: LP not worried about Poe’s 2016 plans

President Benigno Aquino III on Monday said that the Liberal Party (LP) is not threatened about the plans of Senator Grace Poe for the 2016 elections.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the Iloilo Convention Center, Aquino said that LP is veering away from personality politics to transition toward platform-based politics.

“Worried? Why should we be worried of her announcing her plans? We really would like to hear what she says. Are we worried? No, we are not worried,” Aquino said.

The President said that the administration party is excited to hear about Poe’s platform.

“I think the party stands on a particular platform. We are moving away from personality politics to platform-based politics. So whatever her announcement is, we still insist that ‘yung—or we still will be advocating governance based on a particular or specific platform, rather than just… who’s any (other) personality,” the President added.

Poe, who was invited by the Liberal Party to be Mar Roxas’ running mate, is set to announce her presidential bid on September 16 in an event at the University of the Philippines Diliman. JE
