Vice President Jejomar Binay on Thursday called the Liberal Party-commissioned survey, which showed that Interior Secretary Mar Roxas as the most preferred presidential candidate of voters in 2016, a “press release.”

“They’re entitled to that. We have to respect their press release,” Binay told reporters in an ambush interview after the Wallace Business Forum in Makati City.

LP stalwart and Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice on Wednesday said Roxas secured 53 percent of total votes among 1,200 respondents nationwide, while Binay got 37 percent.

“Nagpapalakas lang ‘yung mga ‘yun,” Binay said.

Asked if the United Nationalist Alliance will also commission its own survey, Binay it was not a habit of his party to release “unbelievable” data.

“Hindi naman kami nagpapalabas ng mga ganung mga hindi kapani-paniwala,” Binay said.

Noting that the survey was commissioned to “come up with a campaign strategy,” Erice said the survey only covered Roxas and Binay as they were the only ones who have declared their presidential ambitions. Yuji Vincent Gonzales/JE
