The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against purchasing five unregistered slimming and whitening products sold online.

In an advisory, the FDA identified the illegal products as Slim White Extreme and Slim Fast Extreme, Slim Max Garcinia Cambogia Complex, Detox Max Acai Berry Extract, Pure African Mango Weight Loss supplement and Bright Skin.

The regulatory agency reiterated that the importation, exportation, sale and distribution of any “adulterated, unregistered and misbranded” health products were prohibited under Republic Act No. 9711, or the FDA Act of 2009.

“The public is advised not to purchase any unregistered health products online and even in the market,” said the advisory signed by Health Secretary Janette Garin, also acting FDA director general.

FEATURED STORIES

The FDA has repeatedly warned that unregistered health products may cause potential danger or injury to consumers as these do not undergo the necessary product evaluation, registration and testing by the government to certify their quality, safety and efficacy.

To ensure the safety of health products that consumers buy from the market, the FDA encouraged the public to go to its website www.fda.gov.ph.
