‘Hanna’ wanes after entering PAR

Typhoon “Hanna” (international name: Soudelor) slightly weakened after it entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said midday Wednesday.

The typhoon, which entered PAR Wednesday morning, packed maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

It continued to move west northwest at 20 kph and was last located 1,380 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan.

It is expected to leave PAR by Sunday morning.

No storm signals were raised but moderate to heavy rains are expected within the typhoon’s 600 kilometer diameter.

Pagasa earlier said that Hanna will not make landfall.

Fishermen were also advised not to venture over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and seaboard of Mindanao. IDL
