Fire hits Valenzuela textile warehouse

More than two months after a fire razed Kentex factory, a blaze hit another industrial structure in Valenzuela City Friday morning.

F02 Noralyn Agudo said the fire hit Larry’s Curtain Warehouse at JP Juan Street in Barangay (village) Ugong at 11:37 a.m. and was raised to Task Force Bravo at 12:37 p.m.

A fire alarm raised to Task Force Bravo means that over 10 fire trucks from neighboring areas are deployed to respond to the incident.

“All our trucks are already there, and those of other cities,” she said, adding the exact number of trucks had yet to be determined.

The blaze was reported at fifth alarm at 11:52 a.m.

A tweet from TXTFIREPhilippines said that as of 2:07 p.m., the fire was already under control.

In a report by Radyo Inquirer 990AM, the barangay captain said the fire was supposedly caused by a spark from welding work in a neighboring factory.

The local disaster risk reduction and management office said the factory’s caretaker was rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering heart attack when the fire broke out.

No workers were reportedly trapped inside the burning warehouse.

On May 13, a fire razed Kentex footwear factory also in Ugong, Valenzuela, which killed more than 70 workers and administrators who were trapped inside the structure. IDL
