Starting today, garbage trucks from the Department of Public Services of Cebu City Hall  will deliver the city’s biodegradable wastes to the Pulog, Consolacion town, waste facility via the Talamban-Pit-os Road.

Councilor Edu Rama said the route is still part of a dry run.

Mayor Michael Rama met with barangay captains, Councilor Rama and DPS head Dionisio Gualiza at his office yesterday to finalize plans for today’s dry run.  The mayor presented his cessation order but did not sign it.

The mayor said he wanted the Inayawan landfill closed but he cannot do this without a closure order from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The city is still preparing its closure plans, which is a DENR requirement for a closure order.

Councilor Rama, chairman of the council’s public services committee, said DPS garbage trucks will collect biodegradable wastes at 4 a.m. and dump the wastes on the Consolacion landfill at 8 a.m.

Each truck can make two trips each, he said. Barangay garbage trucks will dump their their biodegradable wastes at the Inayawan landfill.

Tomorrow, barangay garbage trucks will dump their wastes in Consolacion while DPS trucks will dispose garbage at the Inayawan landfill.
