VICE President Jejomar Binay hammered anew the Aquino administration, calling it “incompetent,” “insensitive” and “inefficient” as he formally launched the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party in Makati Wednesday afternoon.

In an emotion-ridden speech at the Makati Coliseum, Binay slammed the government for failing to address worsening poverty and touched on various issues, which include the Metro Rail Transit 3 system and the Mamasapano incident.

“Sawa na tayo sa kakulangan ng basic services. Hirap na tayo sa manhid at palpak na pamahalaan. Hirap na tayo sa turuan, siraan at pambobola. Hirap na tayo sa kaunlaran na iilan lang ang nakikinabang,” Binay said.

(We are already fed up with the lack of basic social services. We are already fed up with a callous and inept government. We are fed up with all the blame game, harassment, and deceit. We are already fed up with progress, which only benefits the few.)

Binay, who was also elected as the party chairman, said that an UNA-led government would prioritize a three-point agenda for the country: social inclusion and improvement of basic social services, economic dynamism and effective and caring governance.

He also blasted his potential opponents for the presidency, urging voters to place premium on officials with political experience rather than neophytes who are still learning the ropes of national governance.

“Ang UNA ang ay hindi samahan ng mga palpak at mandhid. Hindi ito samahan ng mga tamad, usad-pagong at teka-teka. Sa pagharap sa mga problema ng bayan, may sapat na karanasan at hindi bagitong mag-aaral pa lang sa pamamahala at pagsisilbi sa bayan,” the vice president said.

(UNA is not a party of inept and callous government. This is not a party of slow, turtle-paced and dilly-dallying officials. In facing the problems of the country, we have enough experience and not a newbie who will just learn the ropes of governing the country.)

Senator Grace Poe, who dislodged Binay in latest presidential opinion surveys, is a first term senator.

Binay said that unlike the current administration, an UNA-led government will admit to its faults and will not pin the blame of its faults to others.

He even alleged that the current administration has overstepped its boundaries set by the branches of government.

“Pakikinggan din natin ang tatlong sangay ng pamahalaan na pinahina ng panunuhol at pananakot (We will listen to the three branches of government which were weakened by bribery and intimidation),” he said.

It has been two weeks since Binay quit the Aquino Cabinet and launched an offensive against the current administration.
