Public warned as thunderstorm hits Metro, nearby provinces

Citizens in Metro Manila and nearby provinces in Luzon are advised by the state weather bureau to take precautionary measures against heavy to torrential rains, lightning, strong winds and possible flashfloods on Thursday afternoon.

A thunderstorm blew through Metro Manila (Novaliches), Bulacan (Angat, Doña Remedios, San Ildefonso, San Jose Del Monte, San Miguel, San Rafael), ‪‎Nueva Ecija (San Isidro, Gapan, Jaen), ‪‎Rizal (Jalajala, Pulilla, Rodriguez, San Mateo), ‪‎Laguna (Biñan City, Liliw, Paete, San Pedro) and portion of ‎Zambales, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The thunderstorm advisory was issued at 4:50 p.m.

Pagasa said the thunderstorm was likely to affect nearby areas and may persist within two hours.

According to Gener Quitlong, weather forecaster, the wet season has not yet officially started. However, it may be declared by next week or end of June, he said by phone.
