PNP buying P99M worth of helmets, rifles for cops
The Philippine National Police is planning to buy P99 million worth of helmets and automatic rifles for its personnel as part of its capability enhancement program.
The purchase will be for 3,200 helmets for P44 million and 129 5.56-cal. squad automatic rifles worth P55.47 million.
PNP Directorate for Logistics Director Juanito Vano said the PNP had not procured automatic weapons and helmets recently.
“We are buying equipment to enhance our capability in maintaining the peace and order in country,” he said.
The pre-bid conference will be held on June 18 at 9 a.m. at the PNP main conference room at its headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
In its invitation to bid, the PNP listed an approved budget of P44 million for 3,200 enhanced combat helmets level III.
Bidders are required to have completed a contract similar to the project in the last five years. The goods must be delivered within 90 days.
In the case of the 129 5.56-cal. squad automatic rifles, the PNP has an approved budget of P55.47 million.
The items must be delivered within 120 days of the notice to proceed, extendable by 30 days.
Bid documents for the automatic weapons may be acquired between June 11 and Aug. 3 for a nonrefundable fee of P50,000, while bid documents for the helmets may be acquired from June 11 to July 15 also with a P50,000 nonrefundable fee.
Vano said both purchases will be conducted through open competitive bidding procedures using a non-discretionary “pass or fail” criterion.
