NBI agent fires gun in resto, wounds man

An member of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is in hot water for allegedly shooting a man inside a bar-restaurant at a Pasay City mall early Tuesday.

Pasay City Police will file a string of criminal charges, including frustrated homicide, against NBI Special Investigator Chester Aldwin Celon after he figured in a shooting incident that hurt a civilian at Padi’s Point resto-bar at Mall of Asia at about 2 a.m.

Celon will also face cases of grave threats, estafa and violation of Republic Act 10951, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

Radyo Inquirer 990 AM identified the victim as 28-year-old Melford Balisit, resident of Sto. Rosario, Paombong, Bulacan, who suffered a gunshot wound in the left shoulder. He was brought to San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City for treatment.

NBI Director Virgilio Mendez confirmed that Celon is part of the NBI’s Intelligence Service. Mendez, in a text message, said they are still getting the details of the incident.

The report said the NBI agent is now under custody of the Pasay police. TVJ
