Aquino OKs promotion of 4 new police generals
President Aquino has approved the promotion of four police generals and 20 police colonels who will be assigned to key positions in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP officer in charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina led the oath-taking of the 24 police officials on Thursday at Camp Crame.
The promotions were approved upon the recommendation of Espina and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, who also chairs the National Police Commission.
Espina said the promotions and reshuffles are a consequence of the impending retirement of several senior police officials, including himself, who will leave the service in July upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
1-star general
Promoted to the rank of one-star general or chief superintendent were Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin of the Directorate for Plans, Chief Supt. Buenaventura Viray Jr. of the Directorate for Research and Development, Chief Supt. Benjamin Hulipas of the Police Regional Office 1 and Chief Supt. Noel Baraceros of the Center for Police Strategy Management.
