Police arrest 9 murder suspects in less than 2 hours

Police have arrested in less than two hours nine most wanted criminals tagged in several killings in the provinces of Iloilo and Capiz.

Police Director Benjamin Magalong, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, announced the accomplishment of Western Visayas CIDG after it rounded up nine most wanted fugitives in a one-day manhunt operation led by regional chief Senior Superintendent Peter Naboye on Wednesday.

Four alleged murderers fell into the hands of authorities when CIDG Capiz, with members from the Tapaz municipal police station, served them arrest warrants for murder with no bail recommended. The arrest warrants were issued by Judge Daniel Amular of Branch 21 of the regional trial court of Mambusao in February.

Naboye’s team nabbed suspects identified as Larry Asiong, June Asiong, Willy Dimas, and Nonie Dimas, all from Capiz, around 9 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay (village) Aglupacan in Tapaz town, Iloilo province.

An hour after, CIDG conducted a follow up operation, this time in Barangay Cristina, to arrest another four alleged members of criminal gangs involved in several killings in the province.

The arrested individuals were identified as Dante Felix, Tito Olog, Robert Olog, and Beno Rantugan, all were residents of Barangay Hilwan.

Meanwhile, a robbery suspect, identified as Gerard Anatan Jr., was also arrested by CIDG Iloilo operatives in Barangay Poblacion in Pavia town. IDL
