Metro Manila sizzles in 34.6 C temperature – Pagasa

METRO Manila sizzled this week, as the temperature reached the highest so far this year in two consecutive days.

The temperature in Metro Manila reached a maximum 34.6 degrees Celsius on April 6 and 7, according to readings taken by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Science Garden in Quezon City.

The temperature reached its highest at 1 p.m. on both days, according to Pagasa meteorologist May Sarmiento.

She said this was the highest temperature recorded so far this year in Metro Manila.

But the hot and dry season only started last week and in the past the temperature in Metro Manila soars between 35 to 37 degrees during the “summer.”

Last year, Metro Manila posted its highest temperature of 36.7 degrees on May 24, 2014.

Pagasa said the highest temperature recorded in Metro Manila was 38.5 degrees on May 14, 1987.

Sarmiento said Tuguegarao City, where the temperature is the highest compared to other parts of the country, reached 36 degrees on April 6.

The temperature even reached 37 degrees on April 2.

The capital city of Cagayan holds the country’s record highest temperature of 42.2 degrees taken on May 11, 1969. AC
