Zamboanga Sibugay town mayor abducted from own home
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The mayor of Naga town in Zamboanga Sibugay province was abducted on Monday night.
Mayor Jesus Lim of Salug in Zamboanga del Norte confirmed to the INQUIRER that Naga Mayor Gemma Adana was abducted from her residence in the village of Taytay Manubo in Naga at 9:15 p.m. Monday.
“There is an ongoing pursuit operation,” Lim said.
“The abductors are using Bote bote (a small wooden vessel) and are still in the sea waters to the direction of Kalintana,” Lim said, citing reports he got from the military.
Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela, spokesperson of Western Mindanao Command, also confirmed the abduction but she said they were still waiting for details to come in.
