Run in Los Baños for Mt. Makiling

The University of the Philippines Los Baños and UPLB Alumni Association (UPLBAA) will hold KapaligiRUN, a fun run for the benefit of the protection and conservation of the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve  (MFR) on Oct. 8.

The fun run coincides with the celebration of UPLB’s 93rd Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming. It is also one of several activities lined up for the celebration that has been given the theme “UPLB Leads Green,” according to a press statement.

The statement said that through the fun run, UPLB and UPLBAA hope to generate support for programs to protect the MFR and other areas in UPLB and turn these into some of the country’s leading destinations for ecotourism.

MFR is a 4,244-ha natural tropical rainforest teeming with thousands of plant species, including more woody plant species than what can be found in the entire United States.
