CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Philippines — A prosecutor and his driver survived an attack on Monday morning, when gunmen shot at a vehicle carrying them and the official’s daughter in San Miguel town.

San Jose del Monte City Prosecutor Antonio Buan, 61, and his 51-year-old driver, Roberto Castillo, were being treated for gunshot wounds to the head and torso at a local hospital, as of Monday afternoon.

Buan’s daughter, Maria Concepcion, was unhurt when armed men riding two motorcycles fired at Buan’s car (a Silver Toyota Innova with plate number SKW-401) at 7:15 a.m. as it drove through Barangay Sta. Rita Matanda along the Cagayan Valley Road.

The gunmen abandoned their motorcycles and fled towards San Rafael town on board a black compact sports utility vehicle, said Senior Supt. Ferdinand Divina, Bulacan police director.

The Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory team recovered the motorcycles and 26 spent shells that were shot from a .45 pistol, which was also found at the crime scene.
