MANILA, Philippines—Heavy traffic prompted Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and wife Liza to ride the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Monday night to catch a concert in Quezon City.

Several photos of Marcos and his wife, the couple wearing a red shirt and a red blouse respectively, while on the MRT were posted by a Marcos loyalist on Facebook, a staff of the senator told reporters on Tuesday.

Asked why the couple had to ride the MRT, the staff member surmised that it was because of traffic and the two had to catch the Crosby Stills & Nash concert held at 8 p.m. Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

The senator confirmed in a text message that they had to ride the MRT because of heavy traffic on EDSA.

“Masyadong ma-traffic ang EDSA. Pero punong-puno din ‘yung tren pero mabilis lang ang byahe (Traffic was heavy on Edsa. The train was packed but it was a quick journey),” Marcos said in a text message.
