MANILA, Philippines — A weak northeast monsoon in extreme Northern Luzon will bring partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains on Monday.

“The islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (Pagasa) said.

Alvin Pura of Pagasa said the northeast monsoon would last up until the second week of March before the dry season officially begins, known to many as “summer.”

The easterlies, or warm winds from the east, is the dominant weather system during dry season.

“Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms,” Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast will prevail over Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Eastern Mindanao. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the northeast with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa added.
