MANILA, Philippines — Two senators strongly condemned on Wednesday the manner by which an elite policeman was shot at close range as shown in a video circulating in social media, with one of them describing it as “gruesome,” and “horrible.”

“It’s such a gruesome, horrible piece of video that I still cannot process it,” Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. told reporters when asked about the video.

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejerctio said he both upset and angry at how the policeman was killed during the Mamasapano encounter on January 25 where   44 members of the Philippine National Police–Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were killed.

“To be honest, talagang nakakainis at nakakagalit kasi kitang-kita buhay pa (it’s really upsetting and infuriating, because it was obvious that he was still alive)…” Ejercito said in a separate interview.

At first, he thought that the Mamasapano encounter was a “massacre” but after seeing how one of the SAF men was killed, Ejercito described it now as an “execution.”

The Senate will conduct its third hearing on the incident on Thursday.
