Two siblings who have been linked to the sale of illegal drugs were arrested by police during a raid in their house in Marikina City Thursday night.

SPO1 Dionise Salcedo said Myra Bayan and Rolando Tan were caught red-handed selling a sachet believed to contain “shabu,” or methamphetamine hydrochloride, for P1,200 to a policeman who had posed as a buyer at Bayan’s two-story house along Pipino St. in Barangay Tumana.

As they were about to arrest the suspects, Tan tried to escape by climbing up the roof, but was cornered by authorities.

Members of the Marikina Station Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (AID-SOTG led by Insp. Jerry Flores, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Eastern Police District’s AID-SOTG, also found four more sachets containing the same substance, a pack of empty plastic sheets, a digital weighing scale, the drug bust money and another P3,600 in cash.

FEATURED STORIES

Earlier this month, police received a tip that Bayan and her brother were selling drugs to their patrons from the former’s house.

Salcedo said that in the weeks leading up to the arrest, they noticed a heavy flow of people coming in and out of the house.

He added that Bayan’s neighbors knew the siblings were involved in the illegal drug trade for the past two years, but it was only recently that somebody stood up to report their activities.

The two have been detained at the Marikina Police station where they are facing a charge of conspiracy in selling illegal drugs. Bayan will also be charged with possession of illegal substances.
