‘Amang’ slightly weakens, zeroes in on Bicol

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Storm “Amang” has weakened after making landfall over Eastern Samar, the weather bureau said.
In its 11 pm bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Amang” now packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gusts of 100 kph.
“Amang” previously recorded maximum sustained winds of 100 kph and gusts of 130 kph.
Pagasa said that “Amang” was last spotted at 10 pm in the vicinity of Catarman, Northern Samar.
Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Southern Quezon including Polillo Island, Sorsogon, Masbate, Burias Island including Ticao Island, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar and Biliran were placed under public storm warning signal no. 2.
Areas under public storm warning signal no. 1 are Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Quirino, Isabela, rest of Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro and Romblon, Leyte, extreme Northern Cebu including Bantayan Island and Camotes Island.
“Amang” is tracking a northwest path at 15 kph.
