His Holiness explained that the pilots insisted that they have to leave at 1 p.m. because of the storm.

“I am sad but let us leave everything in the hands of our Lady,” the Pontiff said.

The Pope said, “ “I have to go now.” The crowd yells, “No!”

Pope Francis was scheduled to leave Leyte by 5 p.m. but cut short his trip due to the tropical storm.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical and Services Administration (Pagasa) has placed the entire province of Leyte under public storm signal number 2 early Saturday.
