MANILA, Philippines -The Supreme Court ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to explain the transfer of detention of Amin Imam Boratong, who was convicted for operating a shabu flea market in Pasig.

In the consolidated petitions, the high court gave the DOJ through Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, NBI and BuCor 10 days to submit their comment on Boratong’s petition for habeas corpus.

However, the high court dismissed the petition for issuance of a writ of amparo and writ of habeas data filed by Boratong as well as the writ of amparo filed by Atty. Anthony Bombeo on behalf of convicted robber-turned-singer Herbert Colangco.

Both Boratong and Colangco are questioning the basis of their transfer to NBI as well as their “incommunicado” status.

Boratong and Colangco are among the 19 Bilibid inmates currently at the NBI following the Dec. 15 raid.

The raid, which was first of succeeding raids, yielded illegal drugs, gadgets, appliances, sex toys, cash, private gym and Colangco’s music room.
