Metro Manila records chilly 18.9º Celsius; Pagasa says it will still get colder

MANILA, Philippines—Metro Manila got the chills on Saturday morning when the coldest temperature so far of the Amihan (northeast monsoon) season hit the National Capital Regiom, the weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the temperature over Metro Manila was at a chilly 18.9o Celsius.

The Amihan season officially started on October 16, 2014.

Pagasa weather forecaster Alvin Pura said the cold temperature would still continue wherein it would reach its lowest at the end of January or the start of February.

“The temperature could still go down as long as the Amihan is still present,” Pura said.

In 2014 the coldest recorded temperature in Metro Manila was 15.8o Celsius.
