MANILA, Philippines–Light rains dampened the Feast of Black Nazarene but that did not stop millions of devotees from joining the procession in Metro Manila.

The rains are caused by the northeast monsoon in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Friday.

“Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Bicol Region and the Province of Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains,” Pagasa said.

The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Caraga, Central Visayas and the provinces of Leyte and Camiguin will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the entire archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough,” Pagasa said.

Pagasa is also monitoring an approaching low pressure area east of Mindanao.
