LPA continues to threaten PH

MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area (LPA) over the Pacific Ocean continues to threaten the Philippines as it inches closer to the country, the state weather bureau said Friday.
Weather Forecaster Glaiza Esculiar of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) told INQUIRER.net that the LPA was spotted 800 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Esculiar said the LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
The LPA, he said, would cross over landmass between Caraga region and Leyte on Sunday, December 28.
She said it would pass through Ruby-hit Visayas and would exit Mindoro or Northern Palawan.
On its Saturday weather forecast, she said that a tail-end of a cold front is affecting Bicol Region while a northeast monsoon is affecting Northern and Central Luzon.
Metro Manila will experience light to moderate rains.
