Coffee delivery to Germany includes huge sack of cocaine
BERLIN–A coffee roasting company in Berlin received its normal shipment of beans from Brazil with an unexpected addition: a sack brimming with cocaine, police said Thursday.
“An employee at the roasting firm at about 10 a.m. opened a container that had been delivered and found not only coffee but a bag containing 33 kilos of cocaine,” Berlin police said in a statement.
Officers called to the scene confiscated the narcotics, which were included in a shipment from Brazil that arrived in the German capital via the northern port city of Bremerhaven.
The Berlin police department said it had opened an investigation into who sent the drugs and why they were not discovered until they arrived at the roasting company.
