Pagasa watching low pressure area east of Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) monitored by the weather bureau has entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday.
As of 4 a.m. Tuesday, the LPA was observed 880 kilometers east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa said it was unlikely to become a storm, but if it does it would be locally named “Queenie.”
Meanwhile, the easterlies affecting the eastern section of the country will bring isolated rains.
“The whole country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the eastern section,” Pagasa said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
