Bomb scare in Makati false alarm

makati city mapMANILA, Philippines—An abandoned suitcase found at a busy intersection in Makati City turned out to contain various tools and not a bomb as earlier suspected, according to the Makati Police Explosives and Ordnance Division (Makati EOD).

Police closed off the area to traffic after the suitcase was found near a convenience store at the corner of Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas 11 a.m. Monday, a television report said.

Netizens earlier tweeted that a bomb was detonated by the Makati EOD in the area.

The bomb scare turned out to be a false alarm. The Makati EOD said the bag did not contain an explosive device but an assortment of tools.
