MBC nat’l choir championships Dec. 9-13

The country’s top choirs will gun for the championships of this year’s MBC National Choral Competition, which will be held at Aliw Theater, Star City complex in Pasay City from Dec. 9-13.

Seeing action in the children’s division are Himig Bulilit of SPC Paranaque, Pasig Catholic College Children’s Choir, Beati Children’s Ensemble, Pinyahan Elementary School, Muntinlupa Vocal Ensemble, Musica Paulinus, Casa del Niño Montessori, CES Himig ng Kabataan, St Scholastica’s Academy Marikina, Himig Rosena, Royal Sto Nino Children’s Choir Children’s Integrated School of Alta Tierra, Laoag City Children’s Choir, Cauayan Messiah Christian School, Guadalupe Elementary School of Cebu, and Banga Central Elementary School of South Cotabato.

Semifinal qualifiers in the open category include Regina Coeli, TIP Choral Society, CEU Singers – Manila, Lighter Side Movement, PUP Bagong Himig Serenata, EARIST Chorale Adamson University Chorale, Boscorale, Los Cantantes de Manila, Hearts in Harmony, University of Manila Singers, CEU Singers – Malolos, OMPHP Youth Ensemble V, ICP Charismatic Chorale, Kinaadman Chorale, New UMAK Chorale, Magsaysay Chorale, PNU Kalibnusan Male Vocal Ensemble, The Meistersingers, Nueva Ecija University of Science & Technology, Mt Carmel College Chorale, University of Baguio Voices Chorale, Koro Ilustrado, Cebu Singing Ambassadors, Voce, PLM Student Choral Society, University of Perpetual Help-DALTA, and Chorus Vocales.

Now on its eighth year, the 2014 MBC National Choral Competitions are presented by Manila Broadcasting Company and Star City, with generous support from Globe Telecom, Shell, Coca Cola, M.Lhuillier, Hapee Toothpaste, Columbia candies, and the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
