Sen. Santiago: I can curse in many languages

MANILA, Philippines – Don’t make the mistake of pissing off the feisty Senator Miriam Santiago or you might find yourself being cursed in a dozen or so languages.

Santiago, who has built a following for her pick-up lines and tongue-in-cheek statements, said on Monday that she learned to speak fluently in English by studying abroad. She revealed that she could also speak other languages.

“I can speak halting French and Spanish,” she posted on Twitter, adding, “But I know how to say ‘asshole!’ in many languages.”

Santiago’s post was immediately retweeted more than a hundred times and received more than 150 favorites after just 10 minutes.

FEATURED STORIES

The post was a reply to a question posed by Dominique Sanchez (@giddystyle), one of the senator’s followers on Twitter.

“What did you do to be so eloquent in English and what other languages do you know?” Sanchez asked.

It was one of the three questions answered by Santiago during #MiriamMondays and #AskMiriamAnything, which is held every Monday by the senator’s social media team.
