Ex-TV set designer with kidney ailment asks readers for help

Virgilio Morales used to be a set designer for a TV network until he was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease four years ago.

“We were paid on a per-program basis. We reported for work only whenever we were informed by a talent scout that there was a project so we were not entitled to health benefits,” said the 50-year-old resident of Sta. Ana, Manila.

Morales said that the last time he worked was two years ago on ABS-CBN’s afternoon drama, “Precious Hearts Romances.”

According to him, he could no longer work because of his ailment, making him financially dependent on his sisters Anita Morales and Vina Diaz, who spend almost P20,000 a month for his dialysis sessions.
