Fastfood delivery man dies after being dragged by truck in Quezon City accident

MANILA, Philippines – An employee in the delivery service of a fastfood chain died after he was dragged by a 16-wheeler truck involved in a six-vehicle collision in Quezon City Thursday.

The fatality was identified as Archie Gaerlan, 27, of McDonald’s, whose motorcycle was
ahead of the Isuzu truck, bearing plate number USA 978, which hit him on the intersection of Mindanao and Congressional Avenues early Thursday, a Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Sector 6 desk officer told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.

The truck driver was identified as Jay Atencio.

The unidentified officer said Gaerlan was brought to the Quezon City General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Johnson Francisco, of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase, told INQUIRER.net that the incident also involved an Elf truck, a delivery van, another motorcycle and a Toyota Avanza.

Police said the scene of the accident has been cleared as of posting time.
