MANILA, Philippines – A lawyer of a certain Bill Emerson Tan surfaced on Wednesday and claimed that his client was the gun-wielding man on the viral road rage video and not the real estate firm official Karlvin Ernesto Ang.

Hours after the Quezon City police identified the road rage suspect through the complainant, a taxi driver, media reports said that Tan was the man on the video.

But Senior Inspector Virgilio Carudan, Cubao Police Station investigation and management section head, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that the taxi driver himself identified and pointed at the picture of Ang provided by QC police as the road rage suspect.

“Kung kailan naman na-file ‘yung kaso tsaka naman sila magbibigay ng pangalan. We can’t accept that until they present themselves to us,” he said.

“We gave them a chance to air their side but they did not show up. If that was not really him, he could’ve told me before we could even file a case against him,” he added.

The police earlier said that they called up Ang, 33, to appear before the Cubao Police Station because the taxi driver would be willing to forgo his complaint if the road rage suspect would personally apologize.

But Ang refused to go to the police and told officers that he would send a lawyer to represent him instead.

Carudan said Ang even told them, “Why would I apologize to him  (taxi driver)?”

The Mercedes Benz, ‎bearing a KDP 313 plate, was reportedly registered under the Primex Development Corp.

The complaint of the taxi driver against Ang showed that the businessman is a corporate secretary and director of Primex with business address on‎ Annapolis Street.
