NPA landmine kills 2 Army men
MANILA, Philippines—Members of the New People’s Army killed two personnel of the Philippine Army in a landmine attack in Davao del Norte on Tuesday.
Captain Napoleon Gamos, 1003rd public affairs officer, said Wednesday that a section of the Charlie Company 60th Infantry Battalion was conducting a needs and assessment survey in Barangay Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte when an undetermined number of NPA rebels attacked them.
Gamos added that apart from the two fatalities, six were also injured in the blast.
“The communists disruptive actions against our peace initiatives show their lack towards the welfare of the people,” Gamos said.
Of the six who were injured, two were immediately evacuated for treatment while the rest only suffered minor injuries.
