5.4-magnitude quake rocks Southern Leyte

MANILA, Philippines – A 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Leyte on Friday morning with expected aftershocks, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor was recorded eight kilometers of Hinundayan town at 7:57a.m, Phivolcs said. It had a depth of 6 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was also felt in nearby areas:
Intensity VI – Hinunangan and St. Bernard, Southern Leyte
Intensity IV – Tacloban City
Intensity III – Palo, Leyte
Intensity II – Cebu City and Talisay City; Surigao City
Intensity I – Lapu Lapu City
The tectonic quake was likely to come from the Philippine Fault Zone Leyte Segment.
The earthquake is also likely to cause damage, Phivolcs added.
