Taguig cited for using infotech in delivering services

/ 04:36 AM July 21, 2014

Taguig is e-ready. Only recently, the city was cited for its excellent use of information and communication technologies in the delivery of services.

Also recognized aside from Taguig during the 2014 E-readiness Leadership Awards were the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Makati, San Fernando and Angeles in Pampanga province, Balanga in Bataan province and Batangas. The 10 cities were chosen out of 143 that were assessed for their information communication technology capability, technology environment and Web presence maturity.

The judging was done by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Trade and Industry using the E-readiness Assessment Survey. “Our efforts to adapt technology in our changing times have paid off,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said in a statement.

“We are in (a) fast-paced and changing society and we, in the local government, want to adapt to that,” she added.

Cayetano said that with the improved system and technologies provided in the city, as attested to by the award, services could be further improved.–Kristine Felisse Mangunay
