MANILA, Philippines–At least 90 families were evacuated to safer grounds in Pasay City, hours before Typhoon Glenda (international name: Rammasun) was to hit Metro Manila.

As of 4 a.m., 96 families from Barangay (village) 201 had been evacuated to the Kalayaan Gym, the Pasay Public Information Office said on Twitter.

The pre-emptive evacuation was for residents living near and along the coastline.
