MANILA, Philippines—Two men held up and robbed a popular convenience store in Mandaluyong City early Monday, taking away more than P300,000 worth of cash and phone cards, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Joemer Puzon said the robbers, who were described as “good-looking and well dressed,” at first posed as customers at a 7-Eleven store along Pioneer St. in Mandaluyong City around 4:20 a.m. on Monday

Armed with handguns, the two declared a holdup while pointing a gun at security guard Rexie Sison.

“One of them disarmed the guard and hit him with the gun in the head,” Puzon said.

The guard, two cashiers and two customers were forced inside the store’s backroom while assistant manager Christina Pozon was ordered to open the cash vault at gunpoint.

The robbers emptied the vault and the cash register machine of money, allegedly totaling P300,000.

The suspects also took several phone cards amounting to P15,000.

No closed-circuit television camera was installed inside the store, making it difficult for the police to identify the assailants.

The victims, however, described the robbers as 5’7” to 5’8” and 5’3” to 5’4” in height, both of medium build, and with brown complexion.

The Mandaluyong police are conducting a follow-up operation to identify and arrest the suspects.
