MANILA, Philippines — Flash floods due to heavy rains caused damage to agricultural crops in five Maguindanao towns, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

The towns of Mamasapano, Shariff Saydona, Datu Piang, Mother Kabuntalan and Datu Salibo were inundated by floods last Friday, the NDRRMC said in a belated report.

The floods immediately subsided and no casualties were reported but damages to agricultural crops were noted.

“Residents along the riverbanks in Datu Piang and Mother Kabuntalan were already warned on the rise of water along Rio Grande de Maguindanao since last week but no evacuation was ordered although some villages were already submerged with flood waters,” the NDRRMC said.
