Coast guard seizes smuggled fuel in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities were able to seize smuggled fuel in Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Monday.
A total of undocumented 20 drums of gasoline and 30 liters of diesel were confiscated by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Brooke’s Point from an unmarked motor launch (boat) last Friday, May 30.

A joint team conducting maritime patrol confiscated a total of 20 drums of gasoline and 27 plastic containers loaded with 30 liters of diesel when Amar Abduhalim, owner of the boat FB BMO Express, failed to show pertinent documents, the Philippine Coast Guard posted in its Facebook account.
An Isuzu Elf where the smuggled fuels were loaded was also confiscated. Its owner was identified as Amil Bahar Madali.
FB BMO Express was also operating with expired documents, the PCG reported.
“CGS Brooke’s Point personnel issued a Maritime Violation Report to Abdulahim and advised (him) to settle said violation within 10 days upon receipt. The confiscated fuel and vehicle is temporarily under the custody of CGS Brooke’s Point for proper turnover to the Bureau of Customs,” the PCG added.
