Angry thieves in Kuala Lumpur burn ATM after it yielded no money

MANILA, Philippines – They say “money burns a hole in the pocket,” but what happens if thieves find no money in the automated teller machine they just ripped open?
In Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, the Star online reported “four men burned an ATM in a fit of rage after they cut it open and found it to be empty.”
The report said the men were so organized in pulling off the robbery.
“They had earlier spray-painted the CCTV with blue paint and cut open the machine using an Oxy-Acetylene gas cutter,” the Star quoted city CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Gan Kong Meng.
According to the report, the incident happened at about 4.45 a.m. last Sunday in Jalan Ipoh.
The four men drove a Proton Saga FLX to the ATM booth to carry out the crime.
Malaysian police had surmised that the men “got angry and torched the ATM when they found that the cash box was empty.”
The group sped away before firefighters arrived at the booth to put out the fire.
According to the report, police said that the bank had removed the cash last Saturday night.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
