Aquino to lead Air Force turnover rites

LIPA CITY, Batangas– President Benigno Aquino III as commander-in-chief will preside over the Philippine Air Force’s change of command and retirement ceremony for the outgoing Air Force chief here at Fernando Air Base today, Friday.

Major General Jeffrey Delgado has been named as the 33rd Commanding General of the Air Force. He was a former senior military assistant of Aquino when he assumed office in 2010. Before his new post, he was the deputy chief of staff for Plans at Camp Aguinaldo.

Delgado will replace Lieutenant General Lauro Catalino dela Cruz, the outgoing Air Force chief.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Armed Forces chief General Emmanuel Bautista and other top military commanders and distinguished guests are expected to attend.
